All of our whitewater river guides participate in swift water rescue training. This training provides our guides with the skills to recognize and avoid common river hazards. Proper training insures that our whitewater guides are able to identify and avoid river hazards by understanding hydrology, hazards, and river features. A proactive approach to river safety helps to prevent accidents and injuries on the river.
Swift water training also teaches our whitewater guides the rescue techniques they need to assist paddlers in distress. By learning and practicing these rescue skills, our whitewater guides are better able to assist in recovering swimmers as well as loose boats and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Advanced training includes development of rope-based and in-water skills as well training using the rescue PFD, and understand it’s strengths and weaknesses.
Emphasis is placed both on personal safety and on simple, commonly used skills.
